I love getting lost in a good book and many of you might have as a goal for this year to read more. These are six of my all time favourite books. If anybody asks me for book recommendations, I usually bring up one of these depending on the preferred genre of the person asking. If they pique your interest, definitely give them a chance! They are all 5 star reads for me!
The Bronze Horseman by Paullina Simons
WWII during the siege of Leningrad. Epic (somewhat forbidden) love story. First of a series of three books. When I finished this series of books, I felt like a part of me went missing.
“A bus came. The soldier turned away from her and walked toward it. Tatiana watched him. Even his walk was from another world; the step was too sure, the stride too long, yet somehow it all seemed right, looked right, felt right. It was like stumbling on a book you thought you had lost. Ah, yes, there it is.”
A Love Letter to Whiskey by Kandi Steiner
Toxic. Angsty. Passionate. I couldn’t put this down. The kind of characters you want to shake but something about this story has stuck with me after all these years.
“I saw him first, but it didn’t matter. Because he saw her.”
The Simple Wild by K.A. Tucker
Alaska. Heartfelt. Slow burn romance with great banter. I wish somebody would make this into a movie.
“I’m now unmistakeably attracted to the yeti.”
The Light Between Oceans by M.L. Stedman
Beautiful prose. Emotional. A simple yet complex story about the choices we make.
“You only have to forgive once. To resent, you have to do it all day, every day.”
The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah
Women during WWII. Resilience. Heroism. You will cry.
“If I have learned anything in this long life of mine, it is this: in love we find out who we want to be; in war we find out who we are.”
Pretty Girls by Karin Slaughter
Thriller. Twisted. Very dark. No quote for this one, don’t want to accidentally spoil anything!
